Paddling pools: summer fun for little ones
On hot summer days, few things delight children more than a paddling pool in the garden. In the shallow water they can cool off, splash around and play with bath toys. To make the experience enjoyable for everyone, place the pool on a level, shaded surface. This lets you relax and keep an eye on your child while they enjoy the water. Even babies can sit and splash – but only under constant supervision.
Safety and care of paddling pools
Safety is paramount when playing in water. Never leave your child unattended, even if the water is only a few centimetres deep. Young children can drown silently in shallow pools, so vigilance is essential. Protect your child with a sun hat and plenty of sunscreen and change the water regularly – daily if the pool is used often, otherwise every two days. Avoid chlorine or chemical additives, which can irritate sensitive skin and do not reliably prevent germs.
Accessories for extra water fun
Helpful accessories enhance the fun. A UV‑protective swim shirt, such as those in our baby UV swim shirts or kids swimwear collections, shields your child’s skin from strong sun. Add a pair of kids’ sunglasses and a hat for complete protection. Swim nappies or trunks prevent little accidents in the water. Arm bands or pool noodles support balance but never replace constant supervision. With the right gear, a paddling pool becomes a safe and joyful place.
Materials and storage of paddling pools
The material of the pool matters, too. High‑quality plastics free from plasticisers are durable and safe. After each use, empty the water, rinse the pool with clean water and let it air dry to prevent bacteria. In winter, deflate and store the pool to save space. With proper care and well‑chosen accessories, you can give your child many happy hours of water fun – whether in your garden, on the balcony or at the campsite.
