Even as a little girl, Amanda read everything she could get her hands on, whether it was a book or the advertisement on the cereal box. Since she suffered from a speech impediment, she preferred to write down her thoughts. It was clear to her early on: she wanted to be a poet. But how could she have read her poems aloud, with her handicap?
