Even as a little girl, Amanda read everything she could get her hands on, whether it was a book or the advertising on the cereal box. As she suffered from a speech impediment, she preferred to write down her thoughts. She knew early on that she wanted to become a poet. But how could she read her poems aloud with her handicap? Through hard work, she overcame her stammer, and in January 2021, at President Joe Biden's inauguration, she recited her now world-famous poem "The Hill We Climb", a unique message of hope and confidence for a better future for America - and the world.
